We are pleased to announce that Skylet Andrew client Jay Bothroyd has signed for Premier League side Queens Park Rangers. Jay has signed a three year deal at Loftus Road.

 

Stoke fail to overcome Man City in Wembley Final – 14th May

It was an historic day for Stoke City on Saturday as they played in their first ever FA Cup Final at Wembley.  With both sets of fans in good voice, it was Man City who came out on top.  Although disappointed in defeat, Jermaine Pennant was able to take the positives out of a fantastic season and was proud to play his part in a very special day for the club.

 

Pennant inspires Stoke to impressive win – 8th May

Jermaine Pennant continued his recent fine run of form with another excellent performance against his former side Arsenal on Sunday.  Stoke, who play Man City in the FA Cup Final on Saturday, had the perfect warm up, comfortably defeating Arsenal by three goals to one.  A Jermaine Pennant free kick was converted by Jones to make it 1-0, before Pennant himself got on the score sheet.  Stoke will be hoping to build on that performance for Saturday’s showdown with Man City.

 

Championship Round-up – 8th May

Cardiff City finished the season off in disappointing fashion.  Piped for promotion by Norwich City, Jay Bothroyd and his team mates now face the lottery of the play offs.  Bothroyd enjoyed a fine season in front of goal, finding the net 20 times in all competitions and also earning a call up to the England squad making his debut against France at Wembley.  Jay is now looking forward to the play offs and hopefully securing Cardiff’s place in the Premier League. 

Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester ended the season in a disappointing 10th position.  A poor start to the season really cost them any chance of promotion although a fine second half of the season was nearly enough to sneak into the play offs.  Leicester will begin next season’s campaign as one of the favourites for promotion.
Coventry City and Richard Keogh ended the season on a high with the defender scoring his first goal for the club on the final day of the season against Norwich City.  Coventry will look to build on a fine run of form towards the end of this season and push towards finishing top of the table next season. Richard was ever present in the Coventry team this season, playing in every minute of every game, a tremendous achievement.  Richard also won the clubs Players Player of the Season award.

Tipped for relegation at the beginning of the season, Watford ended the campaign in 14th place. Watford were in and around the play off places for most of the season but fell short towards the end of the season. Marvin Sordell, in his debut season for Watford in the Championship, netted 15 times in all competitions and is looking forward to building on that next season.

 

 

Comfortable home win for Stoke City – 26th April

Jermaine Pennant put in a Man of the Match performance on Tuesday night to help his side to a 3-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League. Involved in the first two goals, Jermaine got a well deserved goal himself to make it 3-0 before coming off to a standing ovation from the home fans.

Leicester and Watford’s play off push ends -25th April

Both Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester City and Marvin Sordell’s Watford will be playing Championship football again after both sides slim play off hopes were ended on Monday. In the game itself, Leicester ran out 4-2 winners, despite Sordell bagging himself a brace, taking his tally in his debut season to 15.

 

Cardiff continue promotion push -25th April

Jay Bothroyd’s Cardiff City continue their push for automatic promotion with 1-0 win at Preston, a result which relegated the hosts. Cardiff now lie 1 point outside the automatic spots with two games to play.

No Wembley hangover for Stoke City – 23rd April

After a convincing Wembley semi final victory 5 days earlier, Stoke were back in Premier League action on Saturday against Aston Villa at Villa Park.  The game ended 1-1 with Jermaine Pennant putting in a solid performance for the 90 minutes.

 

Cardiff draw with QPR – 23rd April

Cardiff City recorded a home draw against league leaders Queens Park Rangers on Saturday morning’s live game at the Cardiff City Stadium. Jay Bothroyd opened the scoring in the first half with a thunderous strike from outside the box. In a tight game, it ended 2-2 meaning with three games to go, automatic promotion is now out of Cardiff’s hands.

 

Watford record Barnsley win – 23rd April

Marvin Sordell’s Watford gave themselves an outside chance of making the play offs with a comfortable 1-0 home win. The result see’s the Hornets in with an outside chance of making the play offs.

 

Good Friday draw for Coventry – 22nd April

Richard Keogh’s Coventry City recorded a home draw against Scunthorpe on Good Friday to continue their fine end of season form.

 

 

Pennant stars as Stoke reach FA Cup Final – 18th April

Stoke City recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in glorious sunshine at Wembley on Sunday afternoon to set up an FA Cup final date on May 14th with Manchester City.  Three first-half goals helped settle the tie, two within the opening 17 minutes and after a fine run and pass from Jermaine Pennant, Jones made it 3-0 before half time to all but seal victory. Stoke added a further two second half goals to send them through to the clubs first ever FA Cup Final. 

 

Cardiff continue promotion push – 17th April

Jay Bothroyd’s Cardiff City secured a comfortable victory over 10-man Portsmouth to return to second spot in the Championship and maintain their promotion push.  Cardiff went one up early on before England striker Bothroyd made it 2-0 in first half stoppage time, his 19th goal of the season.

 

Back to back wins for Coventry City – 17th April

Richard Keogh’s Coventry City secured a 2-1 victory over promotion chasing Millwall on Saturday to all but secure them from relegation. With the scores locked at 1-1 going into the final stages, Richard Keogh’s surged down the right wing, crossed for Marlon King to grab the winner.

 

 

Cardiff up to second - 13th April

Jay Bothroyd's Cardiff City are into the automatic promotion places after a comfortable 2-0 win at Sheffield United last night. The result moves Cardiff into second place in the Championship and the Bluebirds will look to push on from here and secure promotion to the Premier League.

 

 

Watford hold second place Norwich - 13th April 

Marvin Sordell regained his place in the Watford starting line up and helped his side to a credible  2-2 draw against promotion chasing Norwich City at Vicarage Road last night.  

 

 

Fine away win for Coventry - 13th April

Richard Keogh's Coventry City produced a superb display to ease their relegation fears with a 3-0 win away at Portsmouth last night. Coventry will look to build on that victory and end the season on a positive note.

 

 

Stoke City warm up for Wembley showdown – 11th April

 

Ahead of next weekends FA Cup semi final at Wembley, Jermaine Pennant's Stoke City were in Premier League action against Tottenham on Saturday. In an exciting game Spurs came away with a 3-2 victory, but Stoke were unfortunate not to have come away with a point. A very entertaining game and Stoke will look to take the positives out of a good team performance ahead of next weekend’s semi final against Bolton.  

 

 

Cardiff close gap in the race for promotion – 11th April

 

Jay Bothroyd and his Cardiff City team mates are still in with a chance of claiming automatic promotion to the Premier League.  Following Cardiff's 3-1 win away at Doncaster on Saturday, the Bluebirds now lie one point behind Norwich City in the race for the final automatic promotion spot.  Next up for Cardiff is a mid week trip to Sheffield United.

 

 

Pennant scores as Stoke ease past Newcastle – 20th March

 

Jermaine Pennant produced a fine performance, helping Stoke to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Newcastle at the Britannia on Saturday.  The winger crossed for Jon Walters who headed in the opening goal of the game before Pennant slotted home the second of the afternoon, his first in a Stoke City shirt.

 

Southend United youngster Crawford bags a brace – 19th March

 

Promising Southend United striker Harry Crawford scored two goals on Friday night to help his side to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Hereford on Friday evening.  Crawford set Southend on their way ten minutes before half time when he chipped the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper. 

 

 

Stoke City book their place at Wembley – 13th March

Jermaine Pennant’s Stoke City overcame West Ham United on Sunday afternoon by two goals to one to secure their place in the last four of the FA Cup. Stoke will now play Bolton Wanderers in the semi final at Wembley on Saturday 16th of April.

 

 

Cardiff promotion hopes suffer a setback – 13th March

Cardiff City played out a 2-2 draw at home to Barnsley on Sunday, leaving Jay Bothroyd and his team mates two points outside the automatic promotion places.

 

Leicester City continue their play off push – 12th March

Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester City got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 0-3 away win at Scunthorpe. The result leaves Leicester five points outside the play off zone.

 

Late West Brom goal denied Stoke three points – 28th February

Jermaine Pennant’s in swinging cross was headed home to put Stoke 1-0 in front against West Brom on Monday night.  But Stoke failed to hold onto the lead and came away with only a point after West Brom equalised in the last minute.

 

Cardiff record fine away win – 26th February

Jay Bothroyd’s Cardiff City faced a tricky away test at in form Hull City on Saturday afternoon.  Cardiff came away with all three points with a 2-0 victory which keeps them in contention for an automatic promotion place.

Leicester and Coventry play out a score draw – 26th February

Richard Keogh’s Coventry City came away with a credible draw against Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester City on Saturday.  Leicester had been looking to bounce back following their defeat last weekend against Jay Bothroyd’s Cardiff City, failed to get the better of the Coventry defence.

Stoke slip to narrow defeat at the Emirates – 23rd February

Stoke City slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates this evening. Jermaine Pennant, facing his former club, played the 90 minutes and his team where unlucky not to get something out of the game.  Stoke who are sitting comfortably in mid table will look to get back to winning ways at home to West Brom on Monday night.

Cardiff put an end to Leicester’s recent run – 22nd February

Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester City lost their 1st game since the turn of the year at Cardiff tonight. The 2-0 win for the home side puts Jay Bothroyd and his team back in the running for the automatic promotion places after loosing out to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

 

 

Stoke City into Quarter Final of the FA Cup- 19th February

Jermaine Pennant’s Stoke City overcome Brighton on Saturday afternoon to book their place in the FA Cup quarter final. The 3-0 victory at the Britannia means Stoke now face West Ham in the next round at home and will be hoping to go one further and book their semi final place at Wembley.

 

Boro fight back to beat Millwall – 19th February

Leroy Lita hit the winner for Middlesbrough on Saturday in a fiery contest at The Den. The win moves Boro seven points clear of the drop zone following Lita’s 83rd minute winner, the strikers 8th league goal of the season. 

 

Leicester continue play off push – 18th February

Leicester City grabbed a last minute winner to maintain their fine run of form as Lloyd Dyer and his team mates push for a play off place. The result puts Leicester a point off the play off places and they are currently the divisions form team.

 

Leicester march on – 12th February

Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester City continued their recent run of form with a fine 2-0 away win at Derby.  The result means Leicester move up to seventh in Championship table and closing in on the play-off places.  Leicester are currently the divisions form team and will be looking to continue their run in the final third of the season.

Cardiff back in the automatic promotion place – 12th February

Jay Bothroyd set up team mate, Seyi Olofinjana, for an 85th minute winner against Scunthorpe at the Cardiff City stadium on Saturday.  It was a hard fought victory for Cardiff against a struggling Scunthorpe side.  Bothroyd had a goal disallowed for offside in the second half before setting his team mate up for the winner with five minutes to play.  The result moves Cardiff City back up to second in the Championship table.

Coventry back to winning ways – 12th February

Richard Keogh’s Coventry got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-1 home win over Crystal Palace.  It was Coventry’s first win in 10 league games and the much needed result will hopefully kick start Coventry’s season following a poor run of form.

 

England debut for Sordell – 10th February

Young Watford striker Marvin Sordell made his England under 20’s debut last night against France at the Greenhouse Meadow in Shrewsbury.  The striker, who is in terrific goal scoring form for his club this season, continued his rich vein of form, scoring the opening goal of the game.  Unfortunately, England lost the game 2-1, despite the defeat Sordell was delighted to get on the score sheet on his debut.

Dunleavy takes the step up to under 21 level – 10th February

Wolverhampton Wanderers full back, Johnny Dunleavy made his Republic of Ireland under-21 debut yesterday in Cyprus.  The right back, currently on loan at Barnet, has represented his country at youth level.  He made his debut in the unfamiliar role of left back.  Ireland were held to a scoreless draw in the friendly international in Larnaca, despite a dominant display from the visitors.  Dunleavy was pleased to have played the 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet on his debut.  

Cardiff back to wining ways in derby – 6th February

Cardiff got back to wining ways on Sunday with a hard fought 1-0 victory away at local rivals Swansea City.  Jay Bothroyd took his place in the Cardiff City line up after having to sit out the previous meeting between the two teams.  The win takes Cardiff up to third and a point outside the automatic promotion places.

 

Pennant shines in late Stoke comeback – 5th February

Stoke City scored two late goals to come from 2-1 down on Saturday morning to win 3-2 against Sunderland.  Two Jermaine Pennant free-kicks caused the damage, first swinging in an inviting ball for teammate Robert Huth to equalise and then in the dying minutes teeing up Huth again with a delicious free kick which evaded the Sunderland defence allowing Huth to stab home in injury time.  The win moves Stoke up to nineth in the Premier League table.

Leicester cruise to easy win – 5th February

Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester City continued their fine recent form with an easy home win over Barnsley.  The 4-1 home victory means Leicester move up to eighth in the table just four points outside the play off places.

 

Watford’s striker gets international recognition – 3rd February

Young Watford striker Marvin Sordell has received his first international call-up.  He has been named in the England Under-20 squad for next week’s game against France.  The forward has been in terrific goal scoring form for the Golden Boys in his debut season notching up 13 goals in all competitions to date.

Wolverhampton Wanderers full back called up by Ireland U21’s – 3rd February

Young Wolves full back Johnny Dunleavy received his first call up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21’s for next weeks game in Cyprus.  Dunleavy, who is currently on loan at League Two side Barnet, has played for the Republic at youth levels up to under-19 and the full back is delighted to be taking the step up to under-21 level.

Boro’s change in fortunes continue – 1st February

Leroy Lita’s Middlesbrough fine form continued on Tuesday night with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Scunthorpe at the Riverside.  Boro are now undefeated in six games in the league and will be looking to continue their climb up the table in the final third of the season.

Leicester City recorded their fourth win in their last five games as Lloyd Dyer and his team mates lie four points from the play off positions following their 0-1 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Tuesday night.

Two in Two for Bothroyd – 1st February

Jay Bothroyd grabbed his second goal in as many games for Cardiff following his injury lay off.  Cardiff were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Reading on Tuesday night and will be looking to get their promotion push back on track at the weekend.

Richard Keogh’s Coventry came away from Loftus Road empty-handed.  QPR came from behind in the tie, which finished 2-1.  Coventry City now lie 13th the table.

Jermaine Pennant’s Stoke City travelled to Craven Cottage on Saturday but came away empty-handed.  Clint Dempsey put two passed the Potteries in a disappointing afternoon.  The 2-0 defeat puts Stoke tenth place in the table.

 

Bothroyd and Sordell hit the target in a six goal thriller – 22nd Jan 2011

Jay Bothroyd marked his return from injury with a great goal just after the half-hour mark taking Cardiff City to a 3-0 led.  However Watford fought back and within two minutes had pulled a goal back.  Just 15 minutes later Marvin Sordell’s strike brought the Hornets to 3-2.  An exciting end-to-end game which finished 4-2 and lifted the Bluebirds back into the automatic promotion spot.

 

 

Dyer opened the scoring – 22nd Jan 2011

Lloyd Dyer opened the scoring in the six goal game at The Walkers Stadium on Saturday.  Leicester City looked sharp and continued their unbeaten home record under Sven-Goran Eriksson.  The 4-2 entertaining tie takes Leicester to tenth in the table.

Jermaine Pennant’s Stoke City secured a vital win against Bolton on Saturday.  The 2-0 victory takes Stoke to eighth place in the table.

 

 

Sordell bags 12 this season – 15th Jan 2011 

Marvin Sordell scored Watford’s 50th goal in 25 league games and his 12th of the season.  The on-form striker netted the Hornet’s third goal in an impressive 3-0 win over Derby.  They remain sixth in the table. 

 

Coventry City unable to break the deadlock

Richard Keogh’s Coventry couldn’t get passed Sheffield United’s Steve Simonsen who pulled off a couple of good saves to keep a clean sheet.  Coventry City remain 11th in the table after the 0-0 draw.

 

 

Leicester show promise – 15th Jan 2011

Leicester looked sharp at Deepdale on Saturday but they could only manage to secure one point in the 1-1 tie.  Lloyd Dyer’s side are 13th in the table but with new on-loan signing Yakubu, both, the team and manager are hopeful to win promotion this season.

 

 

FA Cup Round up – 11th Jan

Stoke City played out a 1-1 draw with Cardiff City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday. Cardiff’s Jay Bothroyd missed the clash through injury. The sides will now have to do it all again in a replay. Doncaster Rovers await the winners of this tie in the next round.

Lloyd Dyer played 80 minutes as Leicester City earned a creditable draw against big spending Manchester City at the Walkers Stadium. Leicester came from 2-1 down to send the tie to a replay. Should Leicester succeed in the replay they will go on to face Notts County in the fourth round.

Coventry are through to round four of the FA Cup having beaten Crystal Palace in the third round at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday. Richard Keogh played the whole 90 minutes as Coventry survived a late Crystal Palace fight back to win the game 2-1. Coventry will now face a trip to Premier League side Birmingham City.

Watford eased passed Hartlepool United to book their place in the fourth round at Vicarage Round on Saturday. Marvin Sordell was on target twice for the Hornets, taking his tally to 11 for the season, helping Watford win comfortably 4-1. Watford will go on to face Brighton in the next round of the competition.

 

New Years Day Round up -1st January

Jermaine Pennant played his first game as a permanent Stoke City player following his transfer from Real Zaragoza as the Potters recorded a fine home win against Everton.

Middlesbrough recorded a fine away point at high flying Leeds United with Leroy Lita leading the line for Boro.

Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester recorded an away victory at Hull City. The 0-1 win moved the Foxes ahead of Hull in the table.

Coventry came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town. Richard Keogh and Coventry have been in and around the play off places all year and will look to get back to winning ways to consolidate their play off push.

Watford continued their fine run of form recording their 4th straight win in the league. Marvin Sordell was on target for the 2nd game in a row with a fine strike against Portsmouth. The win moves Watford into the play off places.

Pennant completes move to Stoke City – 31st December

Watford hit 4 past Cardiff – 28th December

Watford recorded a fine victory against promotion chasing Cardiff City at Vicarage Road on Tuesday.  Cardiff had to without influential front man Jay Bothroyd due to injury; however Watford had Marvin Sordell in their starting line up. Watford dominated this one however it was Cardiff who took the lead. Watford soon fought back, winning the game 4-1, with Sordell scoring the 2nd of his team’s goals. 

 

Lita’s brace secures Boro victory – 28th December

Leroy Lita scored two for Middlesbrough against bottom side Preston to help his side win all three points. It was the first time Boro recorded an away victory this season. Lita’s first came three minutes after Preston had taken the lead, unleashing a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner. Lita grabbed his 2nd of the game on the hour mark to secure all three points for Boro.

 

Boxing Day victory for Stoke – 26th December

Jermaine Pennant and Stoke recorded a fine away victory on Boxing Day with a 0-2 win at Ewood Park.  It was the perfect response from Stoke having lost their previous fixture against Blackpool.

 

Leicester hit five past Doncaster- 12th December

Leicester City came from a goal down to beat Doncaster at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday.  Trailing 1-0 at the time Lloyd Dyer was brought down in the penalty box giving his side the opportunity to equalise on the stroke of half time.  Leicester went on to score another four in the second-half, winning 5-1, and moving up to 13th place in the table.

 

Pennant out of Wigan clash – 4th December

Jermaine Pennant failed to shake off the hamstring injury which forced him off at half time in Stoke’s previous game. The on form winger watched from the stands at his team mates earned a point at Wigan on Saturday.

 

Mixed fortunes at the Ricoh Arena – 4th December

Coventry City entertained Middlesbrough on Saturday at the Ricoh Arena. Both Richard Keogh and Leroy Lita took their place in the starting line up’s, however it was Keogh’s Coventry who came out on top wining 1-0. The result means City maintain their place in the play-off positions, now up to 5th, while Boro are still struggling at the wrong end of the table.

 

Stoke City earn point against Man City – 28th November

Stoke and Man City played out a 1-1 draw at the Britannia on Saturday afternoon. After going off injured in Stoke’s last game against West Brom, Jermaine Pennant recovered in time to take his place in the starting 11. Stoke started the game brightly and were on top for the first half of the game, however went behind late on as Micah Richards put the visitors in front on 81minutes. Stoke came fighting back and got a well deserved point when Matthew Etherington equalised in stoppage time. After dominating the first half, the Stoke Cit boss was frustrated that his side did not take advantage of their dominance in which they created a number of opportunities.

Coventry into the play offs – 28th November

Coventry City moved into the play off places at the weekend after a comfortable 2-0 win away at Scunthorpe United. Coventry and Richard Keogh will be hoping to build on the recent run of results and maintain a play off push going into the busy Christmas and New Year schedule.

Lita amongst the goals for Boro – 28th November

In blizzard like conditions at the Riverside on Saturday afternoon Middlesbrough came from behind to secure a point against Hull, but despite this they remain in the danger zone. Trailing by a goal to nil, Leroy Lita headed home the equaliser in this tightly fought contest.

 

Three in a row for Stoke City – 22nd November

Stoke City recorded their third straight victory in the league by defeating West Brom 0-3 on Saturday at the Hawthorns. It was the first time in 26 years the club achieved three top-flight victories in a row. It was a disappointing day for Jermaine Pennant who had to leave the field after only 11 minutes after pulling up with a hamstring injury. The winger is hopeful of making a quick recovery to help his team continue their climb up the table. Next Stoke take on Manchester City at the Britannia.

Coventry City back to winning ways – 22nd November

After three defeats in a row, Coventry City got back to winning ways at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Burnley. After a fine start to the season and having spent weeks in the play off places, City slipped in recent weeks but Aidy Boothroyd’s men got back on track this weekend and are now only just outside the play off places on goal difference. Commenting after the game, City defender Richard Keogh told us he was delighted to get back to winning ways and that keeping the clean sheet was important too.

Charlton stay second – 22nd November

Charlton Athletic remain in the automatic promotion places after a hard fought 3-2 home win over Yeovil Town. The Addicks have climbed the table and moved into second place four points behind leaders Brighton. Jon Fortune was a second half substitute for Charlton.

 

Jay Bothroyd makes England debut

 

Congratulations to Jay Bothroyd, who made his debut for England on Wednesday night at Wembley against France. Trailing 2-0, Jay was introduced as a second half substitute in the 70th minute and performed well in front of the 85,000 strong crowd. The game finished 2-1 to France with Jay playing his own role in winning the corner that led to England’s goal. After the game Jay told us; “I am absolutely delighted to have won my first England cap. I hope I can be involved again.”

Jay Bothroyd called into England squad – 15th November

Congratulations to Jay Bothroyd who has been rewarded for his fine start to the season by being named in Fabio Capello’s latest England squad. Jay has been in terrific form so far this season with Cardiff having found the back of the net a total of 15 times to date.

Pennant in fine form against Liverpool – 14th November

 

Jermaine Pennant starred in Stoke City’s Saturday evening game against Liverpool.  Facing his former club, Jermaine was involved in both goals as Stoke came away with an impressive 2-0 victory.

Jay Bothroyd brace helps Cardiff to the top of the table – 14th November

 

Cardiff went top of the Championship on Saturday with a 4-2 victory at Scunthorpe. Continuing on his outstanding run in front of goal, Jay Bothroyd fired a first half double to help the bluebirds to victory.

Leicester continue their climb up the table – 14th November

Bothroyd named Championship Player of the Month – 11th November

After an impressive start to the season, Jay Bothroyd has been rewarded with the ‘Championship Player of the Month’ for October, a month in which he netted five goals for the promotion chasing Bluebirds. Stoke snatch crucial win – 10th November

After a run of four defeats, Stoke City were back to winning ways on Tuesday night, with a 3-2 home win over Birmingham City. Jermaine Pennant played a crucial part in the game, setting up Stoke’s second goal on the night and putting in a very impressive performance.

Bothroyd back for Cardiff – 10th November

After missing the weekend’s Welsh derby against Swansea through suspension, Jay Bothroyd returned for Cardiff on Wednesday night for their trip to Reading. Trailing by a goal to nil, Jay struck late on to secure a point for Cardiff, his sixth strike in his last five games. He has now scored 11 goals this season.

Middlesbrough begin to climb the table – 8th November

Trailing by one goal to nil in the first half, new Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray introduced Leroy Lita at half time. The move proved to be a positive one as the team turned things around winning by two goals to one. Middlesbrough have now moved out of the relegation zone.

Jay Bothroyd helped Cardiff City move 2 points clear at the top of the Championship with an early first-half strike in the 3-1 home win over Norwich City on Saturday. Jay continued his fine run of form in front of goal notching up his 12th goal of the season as the Bluebirds moved clear of QPR at the top of the table.

 

Coventry march on – November 1st

Coventry are up to 4th in the Championship with a hard fought away win at Bramall Lane defeating Sheffield United by one goal to nil. Richard Keogh was in fine form for the Sky-blues.

 

Bothroyd double in Cardiff rout – 25th October

Cardiff City moved joint top of the Championship in last nights live game on Sky Sports. The Bluebirds recorded a 4-0 victory against Leeds at Elland Road with Jay Bothroyd grabbing his 10th and 11th goals of the season.

 

Keogh’s Coventry move into the play off positions – 23rd October

Coventry bounced back from their mid-week defeat by Cardiff City by recording a comfortable 3-0 win against Barnsley at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday. Richard Keogh, who has played in every league game for the Sky Blues has been in terrific form this season since his summer move from Carlisle United.

 

Bothroyd and Sordell seal victory - 20th October

It was a good night for both Jay Bothroyd and Marvin Sordell as both strikers scored the wining goals at their respective clubs on Tuesday night in the Championship.

Firstly Jay scored an 86th minute winner for Cardiff City against his former club Coventry City to help the Bluebirds close the gap at the top of the Championship table.

Marvin headed home Watford’s second in a 2-1 home win against Ipswich, helping the team move up to third place in the league.

 

Bothroyd inspires Cardiff City fight back – 18th October

Cardiff City came from two goals down at home to Bristol City to take all three points in the Saturday morning clash in Wales. Cardiff found themselves trailing by two goals inside the opening 10 minutes before Jay Bothroyd stepped up, firing into the back of the net to bag his 8th goal of the season. This provided a spring board for the Cardiff fight back. Sordell named ‘Young Player of the Month’ – 18th October

Watford striker Marvin Sordell has been rewarded for his excellent start to the season by being named the Football League ‘Young Player of the Month’ for September. The award comes on the back of a month where Marvin netted four goals in five games for Watford.

Inspiration Awards for Women 7th October

Congratulations to all the winners at the ‘Inspiration Awards’ held at Cadogan Hall on 6th October. Deborah Meaden, Lisa Snowdon, Donna Air, Brendan Cole and Meg Matthews were among the guests at this year’s awards. Andrew Castle hosted the event which raised money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

After a successful start to the current campaign, Watford academy graduate Marvin Sordell has signed a new contract with the club. The in form striker has committed his future to the Vicarage Road club for the next 3 years. Pennant makes Stoke debut – 14th September 2010

Jermaine Pennant made his Stoke City debut on Monday night coming on as a 2nd half substitute and helping the team turn a one goal deficit into a 2-1 victory. Jermaine had a hand in both goals with the winger's free kick in the last minute of the game causing havoc in the Villa defence eventually leading to the winning goal. After the game, the on loan Real Zaragoza star said; "I am happy to be back playing my football in the Premier League and looking forward to the challenge of helping Stoke climb the table in the weeks to come."

Bothroyd out of Cardiff clash with Hull – 11th September 2010

Jay Bothroyd missed Cardiff City's game with Hull this past weekend. The on-form striker, who has scored 6 goals in 6 games, missed the game with an ankle injury. Cardiff went on to win the game 2-0 in Jay's absence. 

 

Sordell bags a brace – 11th September 2010

Marvin Sordell stepped off the bench at the weekend, scoring two goals and helping Watford to a 2-2 draw with Doncaster Rovers. Trailing 1-0 at the time, the introduction of Sordell proved a turning point in the game with the Academy Graduate making his mark and picking up the ‘Man Of The Match’ award. After the game Marvin commented that he was happy with his own contribution to the game but disappointed that the team didn't hold out for victory.
