Stoke fail to overcome Man City in Wembley Final – 14th May
It was an historic day for Stoke City on Saturday as they played in their first ever FA Cup Final at Wembley. With both sets of fans in good voice, it was Man City who came out on top. Although disappointed in defeat, Jermaine Pennant was able to take the positives out of a fantastic season and was proud to play his part in a very special day for the club.

Pennant inspires Stoke to impressive win – 8th May
Jermaine Pennant continued his recent fine run of form with another excellent performance against his former side Arsenal on Sunday. Stoke, who play Man City in the FA Cup Final on Saturday, had the perfect warm up, comfortably defeating Arsenal by three goals to one. A Jermaine Pennant free kick was converted by Jones to make it 1-0, before Pennant himself got on the score sheet. Stoke will be hoping to build on that performance for Saturday’s showdown with Man City.

Championship Round-up – 8th May
Cardiff City finished the season off in disappointing fashion. Piped for promotion by Norwich City, Jay Bothroyd and his team mates now face the lottery of the play offs. Bothroyd enjoyed a fine season in front of goal, finding the net 20 times in all competitions and also earning a call up to the England squad making his debut against France at Wembley. Jay is now looking forward to the play offs and hopefully securing Cardiff’s place in the Premier League.
Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester ended the season in a disappointing 10th position. A poor start to the season really cost them any chance of promotion although a fine second half of the season was nearly enough to sneak into the play offs. Leicester will begin next season’s campaign as one of the favourites for promotion.
Coventry City and Richard Keogh ended the season on a high with the defender scoring his first goal for the club on the final day of the season against Norwich City. Coventry will look to build on a fine run of form towards the end of this season and push towards finishing top of the table next season. Richard was ever present in the Coventry team this season, playing in every minute of every game, a tremendous achievement. Richard also won the clubs Players Player of the Season award.
Tipped for relegation at the beginning of the season, Watford ended the campaign in 14th place. Watford were in and around the play off places for most of the season but fell short towards the end of the season. Marvin Sordell, in his debut season for Watford in the Championship, netted 15 times in all competitions and is looking forward to building on that next season.

Comfortable home win for Stoke City – 26th April
Jermaine Pennant put in a Man of the Match performance on Tuesday night to help his side to a 3-0 win over Wolves in the Premier League. Involved in the first two goals, Jermaine got a well deserved goal himself to make it 3-0 before coming off to a standing ovation from the home fans.

Leicester and Watford’s play off push ends -25th April
Both Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester City and Marvin Sordell’s Watford will be playing Championship football again after both sides slim play off hopes were ended on Monday. In the game itself, Leicester ran out 4-2 winners, despite Sordell bagging himself a brace, taking his tally in his debut season to 15.

Jay Bothroyd opened the scoring in the first half with a thunderous strike from outside the box. In a tight game, it ended 2-2 meaning with three games to go, automatic promotion is now out of Cardiff’s hands.

Pennant stars as Stoke reach FA Cup Final – 18th April
Stoke City recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers in glorious sunshine at Wembley on Sunday afternoon to set up an FA Cup final date on May 14th with Manchester City. Three first-half goals helped settle the tie, two within the opening 17 minutes and after a fine run and pass from Jermaine Pennant, Jones made it 3-0 before half time to all but seal victory. Stoke added a further two second half goals to send them through to the clubs first ever FA Cup Final.

A very entertaining game and Stoke will look to take the positives out of a good team performance ahead of next weekend’s semi final against Bolton.

It was a hard fought victory for Cardiff against a struggling Scunthorpe side. Bothroyd had a goal disallowed for offside in the second half before setting his team mate up for the winner with five minutes to play. England debut for Sordell – 10th February
Young Watford striker Marvin Sordell made his England under 20’s debut last night against France at the Greenhouse Meadow in Shrewsbury. The striker, who is in terrific goal scoring form for his club this season, continued his rich vein of form, scoring the opening goal of the game. Unfortunately, England lost the game 2-1, despite the defeat Sordell was delighted to get on the score sheet on his debut.

Dunleavy takes the step up to under 21 level – 10th February
Wolverhampton Wanderers full back, Johnny Dunleavy made his Republic of Ireland under-21 debut yesterday in Cyprus. The right back, currently on loan at Barnet, has represented his country at youth level. He made his debut in the unfamiliar role of left back. Ireland were held to a scoreless draw in the friendly international in Larnaca, despite a dominant display from the visitors. Dunleavy was pleased to have played the 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet on his debut.

Pennant shines in late Stoke comeback – 5th February
Stoke City scored two late goals to come from 2-1 down on Saturday morning to win 3-2 against Sunderland. Two Jermaine Pennant free-kicks caused the damage, first swinging in an inviting ball for teammate Robert Huth to equalise and then in the dying minutes teeing up Huth again with a delicious free kick which evaded the Sunderland defence allowing Huth to stab home in injury time. Young Wolves full back Johnny Dunleavy received his first call up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21’s for next weeks game in Cyprus. FA Cup Round up – 11th Jan
Stoke City played out a 1-1 draw with Cardiff City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday. Cardiff’s Jay Bothroyd missed the clash through injury. The sides will now have to do it all again in a replay. Doncaster Rovers await the winners of this tie in the next round.
Lloyd Dyer played 80 minutes as Leicester City earned a creditable draw against big spending Manchester City at the Walkers Stadium. Leicester came from 2-1 down to send the tie to a replay. Should Leicester succeed in the replay they will go on to face Notts County in the fourth round.
Coventry are through to round four of the FA Cup having beaten Crystal Palace in the third round at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday. Richard Keogh played the whole 90 minutes as Coventry survived a late Crystal Palace fight back to win the game 2-1. Coventry will now face a trip to Premier League side Birmingham City.
Watford eased passed Hartlepool United to book their place in the fourth round at Vicarage Round on Saturday. Marvin Sordell was on target twice for the Hornets, taking his tally to 11 for the season, helping Watford win comfortably 4-1. Watford will go on to face Brighton in the next round of the competition.

New Years Day Round up -1st January
Jermaine Pennant played his first game as a permanent Stoke City player following his transfer from Real Zaragoza as the Potters recorded a fine home win against Everton.
Middlesbrough recorded a fine away point at high flying Leeds United with Leroy Lita leading the line for Boro.
Lloyd Dyer’s Leicester recorded an away victory at Hull City. The 0-1 win moved the Foxes ahead of Hull in the table.
Coventry came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich Town. Richard Keogh and Coventry have been in and around the play off places all year and will look to get back to winning ways to consolidate their play off push.
Watford continued their fine run of form recording their 4th straight win in the league. Marvin Sordell was on target for the 2nd game in a row with a fine strike against Portsmouth. The win moves Watford into the play off places.

Watford hit 4 past Cardiff – 28th December
Watford recorded a fine victory against promotion chasing Cardiff City at Vicarage Road on Tuesday. Cardiff had to without influential front man Jay Bothroyd due to injury; however Watford had Marvin Sordell in their starting line up. Watford dominated this one however it was Cardiff who took the lead. Watford soon fought back, winning the game 4-1, with Sordell scoring the 2nd of his team’s goals.

Lita’s brace secures Boro victory – 28th December
Leroy Lita scored two for Middlesbrough against bottom side Preston to help his side win all three points. It was the first time Boro recorded an away victory this season. Lita’s first came three minutes after Preston had taken the lead, unleashing a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner. Lita grabbed his 2nd of the game on the hour mark to secure all three points for Boro.

Leicester hit five past Doncaster- 12th December
Leicester City came from a goal down to beat Doncaster at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday. Trailing 1-0 at the time Lloyd Dyer was brought down in the penalty box giving his side the opportunity to equalise on the stroke of half time. Leicester went on to score another four in the second-half, winning 5-1, and moving up to 13th place in the table.

Jermaine Pennant failed to shake off the hamstring injury which forced him off at half time in Stoke’s previous game. The on form winger watched from the stands at his team mates earned a point at Wigan on Saturday.

Coventry City entertained Middlesbrough on Saturday at the Ricoh Arena. Both Richard Keogh and Leroy Lita took their place in the starting line up’s, however it was Keogh’s Coventry who came out on top wining 1-0. Stoke and Man City played out a 1-1 draw at the Britannia on Saturday afternoon. After going off injured in Stoke’s last game against West Brom, Jermaine Pennant recovered in time to take his place in the starting 11. Stoke started the game brightly and were on top for the first half of the game, however went behind late on as Micah Richards put the visitors in front on 81minutes. Stoke came fighting back and got a well deserved point when Matthew Etherington equalised in stoppage time. After dominating the first half, the Stoke Cit boss was frustrated that his side did not take advantage of their dominance in which they created a number of opportunities.

Three in a row for Stoke City – 22nd November
Stoke City recorded their third straight victory in the league by defeating West Brom 0-3 on Saturday at the Hawthorns. It was the first time in 26 years the club achieved three top-flight victories in a row. It was a disappointing day for Jermaine Pennant who had to leave the field after only 11 minutes after pulling up with a hamstring injury. The winger is hopeful of making a quick recovery to help his team continue their climb up the table. Next Stoke take on Manchester City at the Britannia.

Coventry City back to winning ways – 22nd November
After three defeats in a row, Coventry City got back to winning ways at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Burnley. After a fine start to the season and having spent weeks in the play off places, City slipped in recent weeks but Aidy Boothroyd’s men got back on track this weekend and are now only just outside the play off places on goal difference. Commenting after the game, City defender Richard Keogh told us he was delighted to get back to winning ways and that keeping the clean sheet was important too.
Charlton stay second – 22nd November
Charlton Athletic remain in the automatic promotion places after a hard fought 3-2 home win over Yeovil Town. The Addicks have climbed the table and moved into second place four points behind leaders Brighton. Jon Fortune was a second half substitute for Charlton.
Jay Bothroyd makes England debut
Congratulations to Jay Bothroyd, who made his debut for England on Wednesday night at Wembley against France. Trailing 2-0, Jay was introduced as a second half substitute in the 70th minute and performed well in front of the 85,000 strong crowd. The game finished 2-1 to France with Jay playing his own role in winning the corner that led to England’s goal. After the game Jay told us; “I am absolutely delighted to have won my first England cap. I hope I can be involved again.”
Jay Bothroyd called into England squad – 15th November
Congratulations to Jay Bothroyd who has been rewarded for his fine start to the season by being named in Fabio Capello’s latest England squad. Jay has been in terrific form so far this season with Cardiff having found the back of the net a total of 15 times to date.

Bothroyd named Championship Player of the Month – 11th November
After an impressive start to the season, Jay Bothroyd has been rewarded with the ‘Championship Player of the Month’ for October, a month in which he netted five goals for the promotion chasing Bluebirds. After a run of four defeats, Stoke City were back to winning ways on Tuesday night, with a 3-2 home win over Birmingham City. Jermaine Pennant played a crucial part in the game, setting up Stoke’s second goal on the night and putting in a very impressive performance.

After missing the weekend’s Welsh derby against Swansea through suspension, Jay Bothroyd returned for Cardiff on Wednesday night for their trip to Reading. Bothroyd and Sordell seal victory - 20th October
It was a good night for both Jay Bothroyd and Marvin Sordell as both strikers scored the wining goals at their respective clubs on Tuesday night in the Championship.
Firstly Jay scored an 86th minute winner for Cardiff City against his former club Coventry City to help the Bluebirds close the gap at the top of the Championship table.
Marvin headed home Watford’s second in a 2-1 home win against Ipswich, helping the team move up to third place in the league.

Bothroyd inspires Cardiff City fight back – 18th October
Cardiff City came from two goals down at home to Bristol City to take all three points in the Saturday morning clash in Wales. Cardiff found themselves trailing by two goals inside the opening 10 minutes before Jay Bothroyd stepped up, firing into the back of the net to bag his 8th goal of the season. This provided a spring board for the Cardiff fight back. Sordell named ‘Young Player of the Month’ – 18th October

Pennant makes Stoke debut – 14th September 2010
Jermaine Pennant made his Stoke City debut on Monday night coming on as a 2nd half substitute and helping the team turn a one goal deficit into a 2-1 victory. Jermaine had a hand in both goals with the winger's free kick in the last minute of the game causing havoc in the Villa defence eventually leading to the winning goal. After the game, the on loan Real Zaragoza star said; "I am happy to be back playing my football in the Premier League and looking forward to the challenge of helping Stoke climb the table in the weeks to come."

Sordell bags a brace – 11th September 2010
Marvin Sordell stepped off the bench at the weekend, scoring two goals and helping Watford to a 2-2 draw with Doncaster Rovers. Trailing 1-0 at the time, the introduction of Sordell proved a turning point in the game with the Academy Graduate making his mark and picking up the ‘Man Of The Match’ award. After the game Marvin commented that he was happy with his own contribution to the game but disappointed that the team didn't hold out for victory.
